It is time to privatize the Postal Service. WalMart wages for WalMart Postal employees. Small offices will be closed since they are big money losers and no corporation in their right mind will leave non-profit offices open.

We now know that GEORGIE WALKIE was't interested in having postal reform legislation passed. The truth is that he wants the money for the war in Iraq. Giving the monry to the postal service is not what Georgie Walkie wants to do. He prefers to see that the postal service doesn't get the funds that can get it on the road for decent services. I would hope that the House & Senate will pass the bills that Georgie Walkie refused to allow the Congress to pass prior to adjournment. The president succeded in blocking postal reform, BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT.

It is true that Shrub would have the Postal Service wither and die....the end of an American Institution. To me this borders on treason.

I know he hasn't been re-inaugurated yet, but I'd say the time is ripe to commence impeachment proceedings against this holier-than-thou neocon iconoclast. He does NOT have the best interests of this country at heart, and I fear that the rest of the country won't catch on until the Iraqi war body count exceeds that of 9/11. By then it may be too late.

As of now the Postal Service has to fund these billions of dollars for the Military Retirement of any employee that has/had any Military Service. This is a huge amount, as the Postal Service is the largest employer of veterans. Then it is only logical that every other business will have to pay the Military Retirement for all of their employees that were also in the military.
This would include FedEx and UPS. A single business cannot be singled out for payment, as this would be discrimenation. The reason behind this effort is to help balance the Federal Budget. Congress has already figured these dollars into income in the Federal Treasury. Therefore, to not have this payment coming into the treasury would mean this money would have to come from elsewhere.
Also, since the Postal Service has been paying too much money into the CSRS each year, this excess money was put into escrow. Even though this money is postal funds paid by the postal service, Congress has used this as income in the federal treasury. Again, for the postal service to use their own excess funds would add a deficit to the federal treasury.
Therefore, it will be very hard to get Congress to change their minds on these issues. They would rather the Postal Service greatly increase rates and eventually put them out of business.
I would guess it could be real easy to balance the Federal Budget. Congress would just have to pass several bills. One to make it mandatory that "every" business must pay for the Military Retirement of their employees. Two, would be to have every business overfund their retirement systems by a similar percentage as is required of the Postal Service. These excess retirement payments would all then go into the Federal Treasury. National Debt would be eliminated in short order.
After all, what is fair for one should be fair for all. No one should be exempted or receive favorable treatment.
This is as good a idea as most of the bills put out by Congress!!
