Mr. Robert Otto, USPS' CTO...come down from your ivory tower, you haven't the slightest idea of the caliber of managers in the USPS. Come to Tucson, AZ, and you will find no managers with the "work ethic" you describe of your colleagues. The mangers here don't know how to manage or motivate the work force, and for sure don't love what they're doing. They're only in management because they hated carring mail or couldn't carry mail. When is the USPS going to stop recruiting their managers from disgruntled letter carriers? Sir, the best thing you can do for the future of the USPS is not replace the 3 out of 5 managers that are due to retire in 2007, the USPS is top-heavy with managers and supervisors. I challenge you Sir, to come to Tucson, AZ and see for yourself the incompetant managers and supervisors that impede the future of the USPS.
Dear Rincon Carrier, I read your comment to robert Otto, & in many ways, you are correct about the MISMANAGERS that are in the Postal Service. The same situation occured during the years that Marvin Crapyon was the PMG. Here in Central New Jersey, we have an ASSHOLE who has been called "KING ASSUOLE" to his face. This asshole told a carrier that the public can bring the mail to the post office at 5:00 P.M.. He did not want to listen to reason. Then the postamster of Trenton, N.J. Phil DeCarolis comes down after he receives a note about the incident & makes the following remarks which I will quote here , "WE CANNOT HAVE LETTERS WASTING TIME EMPTYING MAIL FROM THE COLLECTION BOXES". This was the STUPIDITY THAT WAS ALLOWED TO BECOME A POSTMASTER. This is what CARVIN MARVIN allowed with help of Joseph J. Mahon, better known as "MAHON THE MORON". Today we continue to have these JACKASSES try to give the carriers a hard time. One such carrier is an ITALIAN GUINEA WOP who also has the name of "EL FATSO". This asshole came out of New York & thinks that DOIS is the bible, but when you prove him wrong, all he knows is to harass the carrier. If & when these IVORY TOWER ASSHOLES ever come out & visit the workroom area, I wonder what they would say after all postal workers told them off.
Mr Otto at the end stated that it is time to look at the people side. RUBBISH! The postal service have never ever considered people. You might see a couple of pockets occasionally of caring managers and supervisors but most of the time the male managers in the plant and customer service side in Tucson have treated the postal service as their personal whorehouse. The prevailing attitude has been to use the employee whether career or casual as toliet paper to use and discard. Critics stated in the article the postal service has to do many things right. Well, in the 225 years the postal culture has produced this mess, I don't hold out hope for the future.
