Hmmm.....So BS A very nice profit and an increase in overall volume to 206 billion.Sounds like your chest pounding is, as always, just hot air.

Yeah, sounds real healthy- volume up by 3.8 billion pieces, revenue up by $200 million. Do the math, Einstein- that's about a half cent a piece for that volume increase. You don't see that as a problem?

Good job on reducing that cost, but Great news that first class (including that annoying priority mail and Express mail) is on the decline. For all the gimmicks and lies to the public about priority mail, only the junk mailers are propping up the USPS. Keep burning that human cordwood and fixing things that should have been fixed decades ago and the Titanic will stay afloat a little while longer, despite the fact the competition is eating you alive in the areas where you overlap with private carriers.

Priority and Express mail are not part of First Class. Both are doing good business, and if mail we see around here is any indicator, both are up in volume.

Not to be confused with the prior 3 anonymous. Postal Service has done well to position itself in a constanting changing market. With 1st class volume down -- it wisely--changed focus on shipping--packing--atuomating more of the process with APC's so that fewer salaries and benefits have to be created.

Even in the size reduction area--Postal has chosen to create opportunities for early retirements rather than layoffs. It is using what would be considered humane and human focused means by which to lower overhead.

Good Job and may your Holiday mailing season be strong!

Hey 12:42 you must be doing some good drugs or you are moron management. If the Postal Service has no product to sell, all the layoffs in the world wont save it. There will only be management left sucking the Postal Service dry.

hey 1:55
I'm not management but it sounds as though you are one of the typical jerk-off workers in the postal service.
Now most of the employees are dedicated and the ones that aren't have attitudes like yours. No one wants to see the USPS or any Job go down the drain. If your that
disgused or miserable just quit. To bad they can't purge the system of people like you. Go work for UPS and if you do work for them I'm glad that your deliver THEIR parcels and not the USPS!!!!

Priority and Express are doing well?? Through August Priority was down 1.8% for the year, Express was down 3.2%.

I can see why first class is down. People will not stand in lines, as long as the lines have been for a long time.. My brothter-in-law said, he is now doing all his bills on his wifes computer. "If the PO doesn't want my business, I'll go else-where". We are driving away our core business... Any of you management types ever do a business plan?

BS_In spite of all your "sky is falling" blather the fact remains the USPS made a very good profit> I know that just sticks in your craw and that makes many of us quite happy, lol!Have a great day Einstein.

There are some who only want the Postal Service to fall so that the profits of companies like UPS, Fed Ex can rise to new heights by slamming it to the customers. Every day I see price comparisons, and for these customers who think that they are getting a deal at these convenience mail stores are finding out they are getting robbed because they are afraid of waiting in a line at the postal service.

Yes for all the one here who want the postal service to fall, I say kudos to the United States Postal Service for staying in business through all kinds of adversities to provide a reasonable alternative to the high prices of their competitors!

To 6:18 AM,

Thank you for Calling it correctly.

Secondly, if the 707,000 Employee's of USPS would utilize their Own Services it would help.

I recieved a oil painting 5X7 purchased on E-Bay shipped from Nelsonville Ohio Monday 11-29-04 shipped priority Mail, Arriving Lacey Wa. 12-1-04 for $6.20

NOW you go price this at our Competitors !!!

Oh yea by the way... You might not stand in a line a few minutes, but the time saved, will be counter balanced in the Fee you pay to Ship the item!

I hope everything you order is tiny and light. If you order anything of significant weight or size you will pay through the nose with USPS. I hope you like the insurance rates, too. For anything else, UPS is the best choice, even the light stuff if the insurance value is high.

Ups is as big a joke as it's useless insurance.
