The stopping of the Saturday collections have been goingon for years. The service wants everyone to put their mail in the system quicker , so that it can be processed earlier, and ready for delivery the next day. This started back during the 1981-1984 contract talks when the PMG was William Bolger. It is amazing how the Postal Service expects to make money when they cut services such as the COLLECTION OF THE MAILS. this could be the BEST SERVICE to continue but maybe allow the delivery carrier to collect the mail from the collection boxes on his way back to the station. I even remember doing a COLLECTIONS ON SUNDAYS, until the REAGAN ADMINISTRATION put the Postal Service back on budget & stopped the Sunday Collections. I remember bringing in a good size hamper full of mail to be processed, & they were prepared for the Monday delivery if they were a local delivery. The collection of mail is being halted due to the cost of the fuel that all of us pay & the service is no exception. WAKE UP JACK POTTER AND SMELL THE ROSES. THIS IS OUR LAST CHANCE TO SAVE THE POSTAL SERVICE. As it ie said, "SERVICE IS OUR NAME"

We could make Mon.-Fri. delivery work.It would be great to have weekends off, and lead a normal workers life.
