MAIL WAS ALWAYS DELIVERED ON CHRISTMAS DAY WHEN THE OLD POST OFFICE DEPARTMENT WAS AROUND. It was called THE SPECIAL DELIVERY SERVICE back then. Now since the advent of EXPRESS MAIL, this service goes everyday, including sundays. As a carrier I have always voluenteered for CHRISTMAS DAY WORK,as I am of the Jewish Religion, but I have been turned down by management as they prefer to have the PTF carriers deliver the EXPRESS, PRIORITY & PERISHABLE MAIL on this day. The public is surprised that we are willing to deliver on this holiday, but when the service requires us to do the delivery, many of us are willing to help out a fellow worker who prefers to be with their family on this very day, & I am always ready to work, but if told to stay home, thanthat is what I do.
Does express work everywhere? Not from the post office I work at. We are located 80 west of a large airport and Friday Dec. 24th. everywhere everyone wanted to mail express to could only be guarnteed for Monday, Dec. 27th.
FedEx & UPS-YOU both have the same problems as the Postal Service.
Your informations are NOT Public property as the Government data is about the Postal Service.
So you just keep it hushed up (which YOU both do, quite Well). And loose one customer after another, just like you had lost me as a customer-for I would Rather ship DHL before either of you Guys ever again!!!!
You will be back to UPS. You whiners swear and bluster and bandy about our competitor's names, but you will be back once you experience the true incompetence of DHL and the USPS. "cheap" is what describes their service, not their rates after all.
To 10:40p.m.,you can thank the Post Office for the idiotic union they made with FEDEX.We get to use there planes while they get to put there boxes in front of the Post Office.Since they don't work on weekends were f**ked.The person who thought of that union should be bithched slapped a few times.

To 10:40 PM: About why Express was guaranteed for Monday if mailed on Friday, 12/24: Friday was a "No-Fly" FedX holiday. Other than your local highway routes, there was no way to get it next-day to most destinations. The same will occur on Friday, 12/31. Another FedX No-fly day.
No one wants the ricin/anthrax threat on commercial airliners anymore, so the USPS is stuck with FedEx or UPS, the two biggest air carriers in the US. Get used to it, the USPS is inferior in the express delivery market.
The USPS, flies parcels etc. with Fed Ex. To the poster a couple above......who is "stuck" with ups planes?Don't know of anyone flying anything on ups planes.
Ahh BS99, how misinformed you are. Maybe if you would check the facts you would find that ricin/anthrax were not the reasons that we use FedEx planes, we were doing that before 9/11. The fact is that we were having problems with getting the required space on commercial air carriers at a reasonable expense. We reserve space on FedEx planes whether the space is used or not, it's paid for. Since then our express/priority mail on-time percentages have risen dramatically.
Which only proves that private industry does a better job than the USPS, yet the USPS takes all the credit. That's why your volume is dropping, as the biggest shippers know the truth. Deliver many Dells, USPS?
A more appropriate question is why is BFS99 constantly surfing this site to begin with? He is retired, and should be out enjoying his last few days on earth searching for some happiness. Sitting at a computer and constantly flaming complete strangers that work for a company you never had a goddamn thing to do with is pretty pitiful. If you know any history you would know a number of airlines exist BECAUSE of the USPS.We have been the life blood of many "private industry" companies.Without us they would have gone under or never got off the ground (in more ways than one).

Nobody else delivers on sundays or holidays, why should the USPS? Its not like you can depend on it working anyway.

Just Cheaper in bulk is more like it. For around 5 pounds and above UPS is much less expensive. Thanks for eating our fuel costs with UPS Basic!
