HA! Even junk mail is dropping! Time for some layoffs because there just isnt anything in the USPS on the rise. UPS dukes it out with the other two imitators, but we all have the USPS in our sights. FedEx capitalizes on the USPS's dependance on others to transport their mail, and UPS will eventually carry more air and ground for the USPS, and we take share from the big mailers and let the USPS make final delivery. Its like the USPS is a plaything for our 3 companies. We keep tugging at it in all directions and eventually we will tear it apart.
MR. 8:24, I don't want to lose the Postal Service to some low wage company. That seem to be the current policy of corporate America.Bigger profits and no pay for the worker. Its just a matter of time until all companies inculding yours (UPS) that no longer pay a good wage and benefits. UPS has a massive dept to pay for the retired workers. It would not suprise me that they ie UPS file(some time down the road) for a federal bail out. There is only so much a comsumer will pay to have their packages delivered and UPS is gathering speed toward that point. Your upper management could care less about the worker. They have their Golden Parachute and the workers will have un-employment. Either way the Postal Service is a viable company that will continue to deliver the mail across America and the world. The economic climate is at a tenouis point and without corrections, This country will have the Rich and the Poor. No more middle class. !!!
We can only hope that BS99 is still around when ups comes crawling to the Govt for help with their pensions! The great private industry ups will be groveling up a storm and we will LAUGH!!!
ACTUAL Call: CUSTOMER: "please tell me that my order was sent priorty mail." CUSTOMER SERVICE REP.: " oh, yes ma'am, it was sent yesterday evening." CUSTOMER: "thank you...i'm so relieved, anytime my order is sent with UPS, i'm VERY fortunate to receive it and if i do, it's usually damaged." CUSTOMER: "those people in the brown uniforms never knock, never acknowledge themselves, and for that matter never even check on my well-being." .........brown,purple and orange, even red and yellow these days.... you will NEVER, EVER win over those customers who look FORWARD to seeing their MAILMAN/LADY on an each and everyday basis. you guys might look good on paper, i.e. wall street, fortune 500, nasdaq etc...etc... my co-workers and i are here to provide a top-notch service at a rate you people couldn't even come close to. WE TAKE PRIDE IN OUR JOBS AND THE PEOPLE WE SERVE... DO YOU? I DON'T THINK SO!!!
It's like there's this parrot that keeps squawking; "mail volume is down"...mail volume down"...."volume down"..." volume down"..... What a total load of hooey!!!! Every time this voice is heard it flies in the face of the realities on the street because VOLUMES ARE THROUGH THE ROOF!!! CLEARLY at record HIGHS!!!
All surveys show that pay and benefits always trumps how well one likes ones' job, how one likes ones' co-workers, working environment, relatively meaningless intangibles such as doughnuts at coffee break, letters of appreciation without financial awards, attaboys, pats on the back, kind words, etc. Show me the money and forget about kissing my butt in other ways. Capitalism reigns; all else feigns.
Well genius, the numbers always show a decline in run up to any contract talks. Those of us delivering see NO DECLINE in our volume, actually an increase.WAKE UP and listen to those that DO the job.
So true 1:12PM!!! SO true! When productive employee'a contracts are due: "the sky is falling,... the sky is falling.." The exception though is when manager's contracts are coming due THEN all of a sudden it's:" we've discovered a windfall!!!.... the financial tables have reversed course!!!!"
and Hey 10:54 AM , "genius",YOU WAKE UP! the slight of hand is that> THE USPS official numbers< "show decline blah,blah,blah...."

People like bs99 don't care about service or customers.............just money.
Because ultimately thats all that matters. Ask your supervisors.
