The carrier who saved the life of the patron who lived on his route, did what every carrier would & should do when they see that the papers & mail were backing up. The program, called CARRIER ALERT, does work when the letter carrier notices that the patrons mail has backed up for a couple of days. Watching out for the elderly is one of the important jobs that we carriers can do, as we will be in the shoes of our patrons in the distant future. Every carrier can thank President Emeritus, Vincent Sombrotto, & then PMG Elmer Klassen for this program if my memory serves me correctly. Even though,I now have a mounted route, I continue to watch for the elderly, on my route, & do my best tsee that they are taken care of, especially, in the rough winter. The neighbors who live next door to them, do help, & it is people like them who are the REAL HEROS of the day. I WISH TO COMMEND EVERY CARRIER WHO WATCHES OUT FOR THE ELDERLY, BECAUSE THEY ARE THE EYES & EARS OF THE NEIGHBORHOODS THAT THEY SERVE. CONGRADULATIONS TO ALL LETTER CARRIERS.
