Why reform the postal service ? Just sell it at one of those government surplus sales. Then again who would want to buy it ? The rise of electronic commerce and the
proficency of FED-EX and UPS will be like a tsunami for the postal service. So long USPS !

Ahhhh music to my Brown ears.

Bush cant afford Postal reform. With 70 billion dollars of military pensions going back into his bankrupt budget. He is using the escrow account to make his budget look better. Get real. Bush would have to stop his blood for oil program in Iraq. Real reform will not happen with Bush's bankrupt budget unless we get out of Iraq.

Raise the price of postage way into the double digits, less mail means more time for me at Hardee's and less straing on my shoulder.

Nice try 9:38. Your post exposes you as an obvious low level sup that found the actual letter carrier job far too much "straing".
Better go grab another donut and play some more computer games after the carriers hit the street.

I don't see the Post Office going private as long as the republicans are in charge. They would never sell off their cash cow. If they got rid of the PO, they'd have one less agency to borrow (steal) from to hide the true nature of their failed economic plan. Not gonna happen.

NIce try! But the Postal Service is hardly a cash cow
for anyone. Republicans would go the private way in a
New York minute. The Democrats are the ones that want
government to take care of everyone. Juts look how hard
they are fighting to keep Social Security in the hands
of government. Social Security is another failed government goodies that was devised by the Democrats to
buy votes. Bush wants to do something before Social
Security goes broke and who is obstructing it? You
guessed it! The Socialits democrRATS and their union
management. Bush only wants to privatize 2 percent of
the Social Security portion that would be voluntarily
and will only affect young persons. You deomcRATS have
made a mess of our entire government and when the
Republicans try to fix the DemocRATS and the unuions are
the first one to get in our way. Don't they get the
message? Pretty soon there will be no DemocRATS, no
Postal Service and no unions. We will all be in the
private sector, running all the way to the bank and
voting Republican!

The Democrats have always been obstructionists and it is why their party is out of power. I want the Dem. Party to go the way of the former Whig Party. But seriously folks, the middle classs, ala Postal Workers, have less and less voice in this country. Both parties are beholden to big business. If they weren't they would never have enough money to get a campaign going. I doubt that any postal reform will happen because there is just too much other important stuff on the plate, such as the Iraq debacle, the tsunami aid we are neck deep into and Social Security reform. The USPS just doesn't have any media attention on it to spotlight it. If it bleeds it leads and we are not.

Funny how some in management always want to bring out the tired old "Wal-Mart" blah blah blah, when they themselves wouldn't stand a chance of being hired there.Everyone knows most of them(not all) were the WORST craft employees before they went into management. They bailed out of craft to get away from doing actual work.(There are a few good ones so keep in mind this does not apply to those folks.)
