He pulls a heinous, deceptive exploit(like the typical higher-than-craft postal employee) and he gets TEN MONTHS+ 10K AND 16k??? Sounds like a net gain for HIM!! A craft employee with JUST A HINT of involvement in such a crime would've recieved a 250K fine and twenty years ACTIVE in the federal pen!!
What a common continuation of the on-going joke of unaccountability that we call the postal service!!!

How can you be such a moron. Courts impose penalties, and they don't care if you're management, craft, inspector, or even a moron like you. USPS has no say in the level of the sentence. If anything, he got more penalty than others because of his position of trust. There has never been a postal employee that got even close to 20 years in prison for a theft in office-type crime. Why don't you ask around before posting nonsense. And by the way, good riddance to this guy from the I.S.

Hope he gets a-reamed by Bubba & Co.

Now we finally know that The Inspection Service has to watch their own, due to the IDIOTICY of one of their own. We always read that when you get caught by the Inspection Service, the courts take over, and then the judge that handles the case, makes the final decision.
What makes me sad is that the judge did not throw the book at this former postal inspector, who deserves several years in jail, but I do not sit on the bench, so therefore, we are required to accept what the courts dole out to these criminals. We can only hope that the sentence imposed is for the whole time & no early outs for good behavior.

His lawyer must have really ripped this case open in court and more then once the inpectors mangle cases and such. There was probably much more but the way the evidence game is played it was probably off the playing fiedl but for sure that lawyer was worth every cent I wonder if he lost the pension too

You mean the foxes are STILL guarding the henhouse????
Time to call the Inspection Service...they'll get to the bottom of this, I'm sure!
Listen to me craft employees, if you have a problem, call LAW ENFORCEMENT first, file your complaint, give your testimony, and then let the Postal Inspectors come in after the fact to wipe up! They basically serve the same purpose as toilet paper, and they also need to realize that after their job is done, they should be flushed!!! Experienced with the PI employee!

I will pray for him and his family. Once in Prison, he will be a prime candidate for RAPE. May GOD have mercy on him.

People like this find God while they are in prison. That is, they become religious idiots, like the evangelicals in Ohio.

I'm tellin' you, folks, this is a pretty standard punishment for this type of non-violent, white collar crime in the federal system. Most postal employees who steal this (small by Fed. guideline) amount of money from the till, or who steal and use a few credit cards from the mail, don't go to jail at all! They lose their jobs (and not their pension rights), and get probation. Its still a felony conviction and there are various rights that are lost forever - getting their next job will be quite an adventure - but actually going to jail is pretty rare. By the way, if you ever screw up and are threatened with Federal prosecution as a tactic to get your confession, its B.S. Take Federal time any way you can get it. The prisons are nicer and the criminals are a step up the evolutionary ladder from the rank and file in state pens.
Lawyers in prior cases he worked may make some noise, but there would have to be proof he somehow orchestrated evidence or lied under oath at some proceeding. Just the fact that he was a thief isn't enough to get an automatic reversal of a verdict.

If the truth be known, the courts are more prone to give imprisonment to people like this Postal Inspector because he is/was a law enforcement officer! A clerk, postmaster or supervisor would have probably been fired and had the money taken out of their retirement fund balances, but no jail sentence. This moron goes to prison, has to pay back the money, and loses his job and federal retirement. He's lost big time . . . At 9:15 AM, Anonymous said... As someone else wrote, the courts don't generally care what position a thief held, but in the case of one in law enforcement they are more likely to lean heavier on the perpetrator.

Folks, why all the kidding of yourselves? This is POSTAL inspection service! The stats you're given are undoubtedly twisted to hell or ouright fraud. The AMOUNTs of his actions are likely glimpes at iceberg tips if not total concoctions,.....possibly against a whistle blower or a refuse-to-play-the-game-any-longer type of individual.HE may be a scapegoat to cover a much greater scheme. And to say that he would recieve HARSHER treatment because of his rank ,...total bullsh!t!!! More likely he reieved TOKEN punishment for a smaller-than-actual picture of the facts puerly so that all the rest involved will now be all the more sycophantic to the game(a game which this guy MAY STILL BE IN!!)
