Performance = cut the hours and wages of those who work the mail, increase tension in the office, harass employees, lie about the numbers. There is NO tool to measure actual performance, just crunch the numbers and hell with the craft employees.

Quote: The new program “is by no means a giveaway program,” Olihovik said. Managers “have to strive diligently” to receive raises."

'Strive diligently' ?? Does that really mean 'juggle the numbers to make it come out in the supervisor's favor' ? YOU BET IT DOOES !!!

Our supe is a wizard at 'juggling'. Comes around with a printout and the pivots LONG before he inputs all the information, then after the carriers leave, he goes back in and enters the stuff he left out - parcels, residual DPS, accountables, etc.

And the numbers miracuously come out looking teriffic !!

Thanks for the 7K. Boy, I miss the craft! Not to mention the retirement. It's nice not to have live on OT and work 56 hrs and wonder who is doing 'my chores' at home......... Have a nice day, oh yeah, clean it up and keep it to eight!!!!

9.5% here

Hey ask your unions why they turned down a pay for performance plan about twelve years ago. You craft could have had this for years but your unions turned it down.

Anonymous said...

The unions have tradionally been against bonuses, EVA, pay for performance, etc, because management can't be trusted to to do it fairly. The favorites get it and those who stand up for themselves and question authority, while doing more than what is required, will get screwed.
HEY!!! I got a great idea, let the employees decide if and how much of a bonus YOU deserve!

Anonymous said...

I know I saw your mouth moving... so you said that the reason the unions did not accept any type of pay for performance as we know it, is due to the fact that the USPS administrative body cannot be trusted to distribute it honestly and fairly.
Did I get that right? If not, please clarify.

HEY, 9:26 POST

I HAVE AN IDEA TO WHY DON'T YOU SHUT UP SO I CAN GO SPEND MY BONUS

Anonymous said...

HEY 10:19--

I SAW YOUR LIPS MOVING, TOO. You needn't clarify what YOU said. Nicely done.
I think I'll buy a few hundred shares of GE or MSFT.

I just hope I still get my 1.2% raise next contract. God knows thats more then we deserve since we don't do anything and the stiffs get the mail out. Is anyone else tired of doing your jobs and theirs to only to be used like toilet paper. I did get a thank you about 8 years ago. I just hope my supervisors get enough to buy the appreciation doughnuts.

Now it is known that the ASSININE MANAGERS WHO PUSH THE WORKERS,will get something for their MOUTHS. these are the mouths that know the carrier routes bette than the carrier who has done the route for many years. These carriers have to prove nothing to these ASSHOLE DUMMIES, WHO COME FROM ANOTHER STATION & PROVE NOTHING TO ANYONE. tHEY DO KNOW HOW TO READ, but when RESPECT should be given, these IDIOTIC ASSHOLES have made demands on the workers, & that also happens with the other crafts, as we all talk to each other. I know of one manager who should not get any increase, as all he knows is to INTIMIDATE & HARASS THE SENIOR WORKERS, especially those who are able to retire, but are happy working, & seeing their friends every day. This person has been written up, but he is still allowed on the workroom floor. He once told a carrier "YOU CANNOT DRINK WATER" to which the carrier replied " WHEN YOU PUT YOUR COFFEE CUP DOWN, THEN i WILL TAKE IT UNDER ADVISEMENT," but the ASSHOLE EL FATSO MANAGER just walked away. THIS IS POSTAL MANAGEMENT

idiot1: Psst. Isn't this a contract year?
idiot2: yes it is.
idiot1: Didn't we make a large profit the last 2 years?
idiot2: yes we did.
idiot1: we'll how are we going to show that we losing money this year.
idiot2: We can have more training sessions (a.k.a. parties)
idiot1: Naw we've done that, I've got an idea. We can give all of our fellow donothings the money and make us look good by calling it a performance based pay raise.
idiot2: BRILLIANT!!!!!!

discalimer: we apologize for the use of the title idiot, but do to the fact morons, D.A.'s, and worhtless pieces of excrement and their unions objected to the use of their titles.

OH HEY 447 I GUESS YOU DIDN'T CORRECT YOU MISTAKES BEFORE YOU SENT THE MESSAGE, HAD TO SEND IT TWICE. BONUS WOULD BE GOOD IF THEY COULD FIGURE OUT A WAY TO DO IT CORRECTLY AND FAIRLY. I KNOW A SUPERVISOR WHO DID HIS JOB CORRECTLY, TREATED HIS EMPLOYEES WITH DIGNITY AND RESPECT, AND HIS BONUS WAS 1/2 OF WHAT THE LAZY SUPERVISOR GOT. DO WE AS CRAFT REALLY WANT THAT.

A very astute postmaster once said,(If you do not touch the mail,(Then you are just fatass OVERHEAD). Suit and Tie moroons do not even touch the mail when they are counting it wrong and be the worthless scum they are, they actually get a fat bonus for two hours of non-productive no work. Who Works, THE CRAFT STUPID

Anonymous said...

Seven months to retire as a letter carrier and I still do not listen to stupid supervisors and station managers, they know nothing, do nothing and cannot even wipe the sweat off CRAFT ASS, but yet they get a BONUS. management just open the door, step your non-productive ass aside, we do not need any input from you as to how to do our job, leave us alone and continue about your merry way of NOTHING.

Why are there so many angry craft workers posting here?

Personally Im a very grateful Postmaster to all the craft workers who help me get a 8.0 % raise this year. Hopefully everyone gets into Pay for Performance. I think its unfair the people doing the craft work are only going to get a 1.2 % raise this year. Good Luck to all going to the pay talks this year. For us EAS it will hopefully be another year of 8.0% raises....

Anonymous said...

Yes, angry indeed. Anytime we take away the OT, thier shorts get all bunched up. Look around, how many clerks and carriers are working well beyond thier years? Should have been home with the family so I wouldn't have to.

Anonymous said...

I just got my "bonus", a 6 percernt raise. Sounds, enormous, but I got the ol calculator out, and it actually works out to $1.43 an hour raise. Not bad, but then when you add up all the craft raises, and COLA's we never see, then I am the one who should be grumbling, not you. I am the one who works straight thru without a break or lunch, (my own choice) and has to take his job home when things aren't going well enough. Don't get me wrong...I love my job. Just don't insult me by telling me I am getting rich at it. moron.

Anonymous said...

The insult comes in when management says "it really isn't a bonus, we earned it." That's when I puke!
The bonus money sure came in handy to allow my front line supe to put a down payment on a nice Olds 88!
Glad I could help you out boss, now stay out of my face!
a productive postal employee.

I got 3.5% and I think it sucks..... I am in a small office with 5 routes I work mail everyday and will carry if I have to. I have no Supervisor and a 204B who is a PTF Clerk who doesn't give a rats.... I treat my employees with dignity and Respect and I have given 2 incentive awards in the last 2 months.
Our Office is in a Inner city neighborhood and we really don't generate that much revenue and I am told that is what the NPA is most heavily weighed on......So I will never get a piece of that pie.....

Anonymous said...

They could give these guys three times what they got and two things would not be done. One is that there have been no bonuses or salary increases or cola or anything else for a year so that money is hell and gone and the other is that for all the bullshit reports and sick calls and carriers acting like children and save your money automation that is top down driven with savings built in already that the job is just not worth it. There are many much more capable craft employees out there that would go for the ring if the pay was worth the bullshit. Even the most capable managers have disabled craft employees working for them just pushing around the paper and massaging the numbers.

Anonymous said...

i can't speak for the rest of you but my supervisor makes 63,000 a year well hell give him a $4000 bonus and he will still make $4000 less than I did $71,864.00 Thanks but no thanks I will take pay raises over bonuses.

Bonuses are paid oone time but a pay raise last forever. My retirement will be affected by a pay raise even if it only 1.3% but your bonus will not help your retirement increase as once it is spent it is gone forever. Oh yeah and don't forget that nasty little thing we in the craft like to call COLA awww you don't get those anymore hmmmmmmm pay raise now and forever Cola now and forever or one time bonus of a couple of grand, to me the choice is clear (I'm in the money)

Anonymous said...

Sorry but the truth is it goes to our base pay. So yes my 9.5 will add into all my years of "tirement. Also next year after I max my pay scale out the over and above will then be paid lump sum. Guess I have to envest it meself.....

Anonymous said...

Let's not forget that we all have a choice, and we did choose our positions. Craft employees, you can go on the other side to receive your blessings and all: bonus, harrashment, hell, etc.... Don't forget that being in the middle, we get it twice, from top and bottom. But again, we did make that choice. You can have some too. Try it. And yes, you are receiving your rewards, otherwise you would find something else.

To 10:45. I must clear up a few things here. First of all Pay for Performance is a Raise not a bonus. The 8% raise I received will go into my base salary. If your makeing 70K good for you. But you must be working 10 hours a day 6 days a week, 52 weeks a year. Not much family or free time for a Life I see. Thats too bad. I'll make my 80K and work 40 hours 5 days a week , take 5 weeks vacation, and enjoy my Life. Why else do we work except to give ourselves and Family a better Life.
And the COLA , true they stole that from us but if u take your 1.3 raise and add the COLA's it must come out to about 3% total raise a year. Not bad but look at raises with Pay for Performance. Maybe Craft should come on board and everyone can get 8% raises.

Awwwww.........mr blog administrator, that 5:58pm post might have come from our buddy BFTS99 aka BS. He's in a quandry right now, with his UPS stock doing what it's doing.

Maybe there is some way that he didn't mean to post whatever it was that was wrong. FORGIVE HIM. (any chance that you could remove the expeletives and let the rest through?) He's SUCH a trip!!!!!!!!!!!

Personally, I am very happy with my 9.5%. I am a little puzzled, since my "report card" gave me a solid 13.5 which translates to a 10.25% increase and I far exceeded all 4 of my goals that were subjective. Guess the old "favorite pets" issue is alive and well.
Considering the last 15 years I have only received an average increase, because I wasn't one of the faves to get in on the 10% far exceeds merit, I am happy with my increase.

Anonymous said...

4:45 has a good point.I'm no great lover of management but anyone can go into that if they choose. Also ,they have to deal with the idiots above them as well. With that in mind I will stay in craft.Sometimes you need to be content with what you have.Just work to live don't have to live to work.

Well, with my EAS pay raise this year and my years of service I'll see about $67,000.00 a year retirement when I retire. QUIT COMPLAINING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am very fortunate to have a wonderful postmaster and a wonderful 204b. In reality, though, how many postmasters and supervisors could succeed in real life. If it wasn't for how the post office does things 90% of these people would be standing in a food stamp line. They basically could never succeed in life at all. Thank goodness for the giveaway programs the post office has and thank goodness that there are a lot of good carriers like me who are capable of doing the job very efficiently. I have 29 years into this and most supervisors, and I have been through who knows how many here, are worthless and totally useless. They are extremely overpaid and basically it is nothing more than a government handout.

USPS looking for a zoo forclosure to hire all the monkeys to be carriers. Wakeup anyone with a 5th grade education can carry mail!!!!

Anonymous said...

You all are so childish. If you are happy in the job you are doing then why put each other down. Just because someone makes a little more money than you doesn't make them any better than you. A job title doesn't mean a thing. Why are you focusing on this kind of stuff when the future of your jobs, both management and craft, are at stake with postal reform.? When will you all grow up and start working together for a better USPS.? Management wants to put the unions down but if it weren't for the unions getting good wages for the craft employees management wouldn't have decent wages either. If it weren't for managements unions {associations, leagues, etc.} they wouldn't be getting any bonuses. Just be real and quit trying to make yourselves out to be something that you're not. We all are in this together.

A 8% pay raise going into my Base pay. Excellent, I dont miss the COLA now. I wish all the hard working Craft that help me get this raise could get the same raise. To the lazy craft workers and u know who u are u deserve that 1.3 % + COLA .....

Yeah...that's the ticket Postal Service...pay your mis-managers even more money which will give them even more incentive to continually harrass the Workers to make your numbers look good. Where's the worker's incentive to make your numbers look good???

Our control clerk fakes the completion numbers so that the manager gets his bonus and the clerk gets a ton of overtime. They both are benefiting from this new system.

Anonymous said...

To 4:32 you get paid every two weeks by the Postal Service that's your incentive, the PO pays you not your union.

Anonymous said...

Yippee...Maybe I will get a free breakfast sandwich

Anonymous said...

Why do u deserve a free Breakfest>? For doing youe job?
Only in the Post Office do u read Post like that

If private business takes over the post office, forget the bonus, forget the raises, forget contracts, forget the unions, forget good retirements, forget good benifits, forget everything good we have now. Quit whinning. If you want the bonus, or think you can run the post office better go into management. If you are happy where you are shut up. Enough said.

Sat, snowstorm, the union steward calls and says he needs at least another of hour due to the storm, I replied I have no help keep going and do the best you can do, five minutes later another carrier calls and his truck is stuck in snow, I go to pull him out and lo and behold there's the union stewards vehicle parked at the restaurant, go to check on him, no mail in the vehicle and he's drinking coffee, sent him back to the office, told him to punch out and we will discuss this Monday. Now who deserves a pay for performance bonus?

Anonymous said...

The point is, 7:14, we get the pay every two weeks whether we bust our butts or drag them along. Again, where is our incentive to do a "good" job? Our incentive to do a good job is down the toilet because the postal service is giving "Bonuses" to the managers who further harrass the workers to make their numbers. We are going to work harder to make managers who harrass us more in bonuses?

Anonymous said...

11:08-you must not have been around long enough to remember the breakfast sandwich fiasco. It is an inside joke of sorts.
