Only at UPS does "Net Income Rises 20% in Q3" = rate incease! (see Fri, Oct 22 article). People raise hell when the USPS raises rates every few years, but no one says a word when the ANNUAL 3.5% rate increase at UPS comes down.
UPS will price themselves out of business. The increase is just one way to pay their CEO's and workers. As you guys want annual pay increases the public will get tired and won't use you guys. When its time for you to retire and collect your pension... it will be bankrupt by then. Thats when Ups will cry to the Federal Gov't to bail the system out while your Mgrs will have stolen what they can (US AIR, ENRON, )
HA! The big gouge will come in 2006 from you guys! Our customers are willing to pay for better service, and we MAKE MONEY DOING IT. You brag about cheap service, but we all dont need cheap. We need DEPENDABLE. Where are the ballots, gentlemen? Should have sent them UPS next day air.
Where are the ballots?????? Another STUPID response from UPS.... The MILITARY POSTAL SERVICE is responsible for the BALLOTS dimwit!!!! The problem lies OVERSEAS!!!! and in your brain!!!
Dream on, guys. I dont see any businesses switching to USPS for their 50lb box shipments, nor overnight/2day/3day deliveries. Face it, the USPS is not a real player in the market. Some faithless customers may migrate to FedEx or DHL for a time, but their poor service always brings em back! Seen it before, been there, done that, NDAed the postcard!
The same day postal officials publicly denied responsibility for 58,000 missing absentee ballots, an internal e-mail sent by the South Florida District Manager to his employees expressed concern that his staff was not handling ballots within the region properly.
In the memorandum sent on Oct. 26, Butch Parker also told his employees that staff seemed unaware of the procedures that should be taken when handling ballots.
"As of today, we have supervisors and employees that state they have never been made aware of the procedures to be used," Parker wrote to his employees. "We continue to find absentee ballots mixed in with other classes of mail."
Where is that business now, anyway? Seems like USPS volume is DECLINING except for junk mail. Its Uncle Sam that keeps the USPS whiners from striking or else there would be picket lines everywhere. Oh so proud, ye USPS drones, but the numbers dont lie. If the USPS was a real business, it would have colapsed long ago. Just think, where is the USPS "cheaper" (oh how you love that word, dont you)? Light stuff. Non-insured or trackable stuff. REAL businesses need superior logistics, accountability, reliability, and reasonable prices, all things the USPS has none of. Our volume shippers get discounts that put our services WAY below your prices, typically 4lbs and above. The retail customer may get higher rates, but once they get accounts, whoooo boy at the savings! The sad fact is how many of your customers are willing to pay more for our services at retail. Keep on believing in the USPS, but you cant ignore the rising water on the Titanic forever. Eventually you will drown.
Oh and since you dont remember how things were back during the UPS Strike, FedEx Ground had barely begun and DHL ground was non-existant for the most part, and neither could absorb our massive volume, but now DHL and FedEx have improved to better absorb our light work. Kind of like us in the 60's. I doubt you would get much of our strike volume.
As you stated & we have told you MANY times parcels are not our main business.Remember we gave those to you many years ago.Going under??Does 203 BILLION pieces delivered last year sound like going under?Income over 68 BILLION going under? Not hardly.Could the USPS be managed better?Of course, doubt you'd get much argument from most here.Keep raising those rates though and many business customers will be singing the praises of DHL,LOL!!
DHL is proving itself to be a joke. They are a good customer of yours, since they bumble most residential deliveries and pass them off to you to deliver. When we do that, its to steal your mail order customers and reduce our costs. UPS mail innovations, anyone? You could fool someone by saying the USPS isnt interested in parcels with all the ebay butt-kissing, advertisement, and flat-rate box nonsense. Keep giving it away and watch your revenue sink. I hope all the brick shippers come to you and send 40lb boxes to AK and you pay FedEx big bucks to haul that stuff there. Billions of pieces of JUNK MAIL is more like it. UPS is growing and the USPS is shrinking! Do you read the articles here?
Ha, 68 Billion. 55 billion goes to labor, and lord knows what you pay in unsubsidised fuel. Our fuel cost is covered and we roll with the punches. You turn the other cheek, and you only have four.
Keep bellowing your hot air BS,that's all it is.Did ups make 68 billion last year??? NO? How about that.Who cares of the make up of the 203 BILLION? The point is (and you always miss it)We are hardly going out of business!Get real. We will see how much DHL hurts you in the long run, keep jacking up those prices though and you play right into their hands. We will go ahead and deliver those ebay packages and even the bricks because we go to EVERY house EVERY day anyway unlike little ole ups, so any package that doesn't go through ups can have as many bricks as they want as long as the money doesn't go to you! lol! Keep blowing the hot air though, it livens up the board!
Well, braggart, UPS made $33.5 BILLION last year on less pieces, near half of your "awesome" 68 billion. That translates into more revenue per package than the USPS gets. Over half of your pieces are JUNK MAIL and im sure all those free mailings the USPS gives out are mixed in there too. When you compare like services UPS is doing and making MORE than the USPS. Take out all the junk mail and first class mail and the USPS is a piker compared to UPS. Oh, we cant forget your shared revenue International segment as well. We get ALL the revenue from our international operations. Keep on bragging and puffing your pride on something you know is a losing battle. Of course the USPS isnt going out of business. Its like a person in a permanent coma on life support. Not allowed to die.
68 Billion with 54.4 Billion in Labor cost, that leaves 13.6 Billion to pay for RISING FUEL COSTS and other expenses. What is left over? If the USPS was a REAL company, how long could it last with numbers like that? It costs the USPS .30 cents to sell a stamp in labor costs alone! The USPS wouldnt last 2 years in the real world. The numbers tell a different story than the foolish pride you display. UPS is growing, and the USPS is shrinking. FACT. Wait a few more years and our revenue will eclipse yours.
Oh and one more thing: UPS is the PRICE LEADER in this industry. FedEx and DHL will jack up their rates to match ours. FedEx is near identical in rates to ours, surcharges and all. All that BS you see on tv is for retail customers. We can match those clowns anytime we wish. We charge what our services are worth and dont get too much into the discount wars. We let the bottom feeders fight over the worst customers while we take the cream of the crop who want dependable service at a fair price. We own this industry. DHL will get a bloody nose in this market and they can keep spending those Duetchemarks over here all they want. Its about time some money came in from overseas into this country. FedEx will continue to shadow us and take our light work, and keep the government off our backs about monopoly practices. Like that word MONOPOLY, dont you? Go do yourself a favor and buy UPS stock for your retirement fund.
Take out ad mail and first class mail?? There is a smart statement!Thats like telling little ole ups to take out parcels and see what you have left! Again as we have gone over many times before the USPS is a SERVICE not a "for profit" company. We are prevented by law from operating for a profit. You always seem to miss that point when doing your blowhard comparisons.Still fighting that lifelong inferiority complex to the USPS huh BS??? Guess the scars run deep? Must be kinda sad to be so hateful.
once the ballots are received state side (first the military Post Office brings them here)(I worked military post)Then they are put into the Postal Service!!! I just love it when people have NO CONCEPT on how the Military works!!!!
Well, everybody, lets face it. They obviously do something right when the only requrement for working for them is to have a drivers liscense and an ability to lift. Yet they pull down $70,000.00 per year with 7 weeks vacation. $3,000.00 per month at retirement, weekends off, all holidays off. Fully paid health insurance. They are a terribly company to deal with, they are the highest price of everybody, and yet they just roll on. Seems like the airlines were that way at one time too. Wonder how they feel now. Yes, UPS has it made with their monopoly on parcels because the USPS is not allowed to compete. If I worked for UPS I would be shivering at how good it is, I keep wondering how airlines employees feel today.
Okay.. assuming this is kept updated, I hope you folks can help me out. I've ordered 2 items off ebay.. 1 week ago, roughly.. and both sellers shipped them through USPS. I'm aware that UPS in Canada is on strike. Will this effect the delivery time of my parcels? Are USPS and UPS related at all? Thanks a tonne.. I'll be checking for updates.

Keep jacking up those prices every year BS and we will see how long people will pay for your overpriced, average service. I'm lovin it!! Ha, Ha!

From your own board here:

Military mail indeed. Liberal lies!
Keep jacking up the prices, then when you go on strike again we will take even more of your business.
