NRLCA members did it again. Their slogan is "Better Than Nothing". A raise that doesn't keep up with inflation is BTN. 18 minutes instead of 60 is BTN.
3 cents instead of 20 is BTN.
A 2 week count 2 weeks after a postage rate increase is BTN?
2/3 of the membership voted for this insult.
What an embarassment.

Rural carriers have become their own worst enemy. They are so afraid of the union's leader ineptness at the bargaining table that they will accept scraps from the master rather than fight for a fair compensation package. We will not have to wait for the union to be destroyed from the outside, we will do it ourselves from the inside.
I have become convinced that the rural craft is the most uninformed craft in the USPS.

Apparently there are no limits to the insanity! Racing, time sheet falsification, non-attempting of doorside deliveries with packages and accountables, throwing out of deliverable third class mail, subletting of duties, and working off the record... all these have been counted as "increased productivity"in the rural craft.Leading management to say: "nice work rurals" ( while they utilize such fraud to catapult the productivity standards forward).
Meanwhile, their threat is :' you'd better loove this system ,or else we're gonna crucify you,...now you DO want to ratify the extention, DON'T YOU?'

2/3 voted for it? Sort of. Look at how many people voted out of the total to whom ballots were sent. The return rate is as pathetic as the APWU's. The membership has no one to fault but themselves if they truly thought that it was bad deal. But then again, most union members think that their leadership only has to demand something and it will be granted. Doesn't work that way folks.

So, now that the membership has voted, or not, we are stuck with this extension. IF: there is a 2 Week Count in 2006 that we are all required to participate in; and, IF: a rate increase prior to this Count descimates our evaluations, then look for a major nationwide backlash. Look for a backlash not only against the USPS, but also our national officers. Look for bigtime Federal lawsuits. We were, and still are, known as the friendly union. Just wait...

Rural delivery is the most expensive delivery in the USPS. Now who do you think will be the first to go if the USPS starts to sink! Ever heard of highway contract routes! Good luck with your lawsuits.
