Merck will pay UPS costs to return Vioxx

"Merck had instructed buyers to return unused pills in the original pharmacy packaging, along with the receipt, by U.S. mail for a refund. But USPS rules allow only manufacturers, pharmacies and licensed vendors to mail prescription drugs. Merck spokeswoman Anita Larsen said the company had gotten complaints about mailing problems, and, starting today, will change its refund instructions."

The regulation should be changed to allow a Business Reply or Merchandise Return option allowing the product to be sent back to the manufacturer. Wonder how long such a change would take to implement???!! Don't worry, I'll be retired by then!

Sorry. REAL businesses prefer tracking and insurance on EVERY parcel sent back for accountabilty and logistics purposes. The mail is just sad and cheap.

And one of your coocoo carriers stashed away 25,000 pieces of mail. The USPS has failures and theft on scales that way outclass us. Oh no, it was misdelivered. Thats why the TRACKING NUMBER will enable that driver to be sent back to pick up the package and deliver it right when the error is noticed. Try that with a USPS package. Its "return to sender" and pay again. Our customers get refunds for service failures. Yours dont even get a reacharound.
