B to B magazine reports in the October issue that DM spending is up, "but the real excitement is centered around good old-fashioned direct mail". The article cautions that "The key factor that could slow down direct mail's growth is a postal rate increase. Postal reform, which made significant progress last year because of the work of a presidential commission, has stalled in both chambers of Congress."

There you go, USPS! Theres your future! Fill them mailboxes with junk mail until a law is passed about it and stay out of the private sector! I wonder what would happen to the USPS if there was ever to be a "do not mail" list. The USPS could be the first govt agency to file chapter 11.
Oh no! please dont hurt us by talking about ad mail!Do you think that's some big slam?LOL, Hardly BS.......more money coming our way, not elsewhere! That doesn't bother us in the least.Make all the "junk mail" comments you want, we hardly care!!It's money, and lots of it in those volumes!
exactly... UPS raises its rates almost continously...
Its only amatter of time that companies will see the light... Then UPS will cry to the Feds to bail out their retirement system!!!!!!!!!!!
USPS raises rates continuously? Health care costs and insurance premiums have risen hundreds of dollars, gasoline prices have been steadily heading upward, natural gas and fuel oil costs are going through the roof along with the cost of living in general. All of this and we still have people complaining about postage going up a penny or two every few years.
re-read.......the raising of rates refers to ups not USPS.
Since the DO NOT CALL list went into effect, my phone rang constantly when I was eating supper. Now that I am on the list, my phone does not ring & I am able to enjoy supper with my family. I have noticed that the junk mail is down for two reasons, one is that I moved & very little mail followed me and the other reason is
that I send the mail back in a business reply envelope with a letter telling them to keep their material and remove my name from their mailing lists. I also refuse to send mail to the charities who become a pain in the neck, and they are the ones who constantly bombard me for donations every time that I reply. I stopped these charities & have removed them from the list of doners that I send funds to. IT DOES WORK.
