Let us not exaggerate the power and influence
of the images on stamps. They are not billboards, WMD's, magical talisman's, or the foundation of the republic, but merely decorations that adorn the shipment of hardcopy intended to beguile one to open the envelope- a minor entertainment and nothing more: prima facie trivial. Virtually no one, possibly
not even the recipient, can be expected to actually notice the image, and the envelope will most likely go straight to the trash. Smoking Gun has created a phony issue and Stamps.com has responded to it, ruining some harmless fun and damaging the USPS.

Guess the USPS wont be making much money on this anymore. Oh Well. I got my UPS Stamps.

Stamps do make an impression. Canada Post has had personalized stamps for years, which I use. I have had recipients phone me up and ask how they can get their pictures on a stamp. I'm sure some people have managed to slip through dicey photos but since they accept liability in the disclaimer on the order form, Canada Post isn't worrying.
