If we're going to introduce legislation for free mailings to our troops why just pick on the post office? Let's make FedEx, UPS, DHL & all others to provide free shipping too. This woman says sometimes she has to pay for shipping twice. Well ,I say either insist these companies she's dealing with use the Postal Service or she will take here business elsewhere. She's willing to pay a company's shipping fee (FedEx, UPS or whoever) & then want to use the Postal Service for free. Get real!!!

I have visited Okinawa and I knew military who lived there for several years. I am surprised that this woman's family has daily needs that they can not meet themselves. I believe someone should look into this instead of focusing on postage; something else is wrong!

Yes I agree, if were going to introduce legislation for Free Mailings to our troups Why Just pick on the Post Office??

Let's make ALL the Other Shipping Companies bear the weight of supporting FREE mailings & Shipping to our troups in Iraq & Afghanistan.

Go ahead lady, Take you Business elsewhere!

YOUR NOT very Supportive of Our Troups when it comes to Nickels and dimes.
When they are dying 'Daily' for YOUR Freedoms!!!!! I lost my Legs in Vietnam fighting for People "like YOU" Wow, what a waste!

I think it is totally unreasonable for the U.S.P.S., UPS, DHL, FEDEX, or any other shipping company to be expected to provide free shipping to anyone anywhere. After all that is what they all do to make money to pay their employees and other expenses. I think what the lady is asking for is for congress to provide money to pay for these shipments, if her intent is for the U.S.P.S. to provide free shipping, she needs for someone to explain to her that life is not free.

That lady is sooooo cheap!!! She complains about paing postage to ship Xmas gifts???
I was stationed on Okinawa and can gurantee that the troops there do not want for anything. They have state of the art on-base shopping facilities, commisaries, etc at discount prices. I was actually shipping electronic gadgets back to the states because they were cheaper via military stores than the cost in the states.

My doctor told me that women have 4% less brain cells than men and that's why women can't think straight.

My father was stationed in Okinawa during the '70s and our family actually saved money for the first time during his three-year tour. Off-base prices were extremely high, but the bases, even back then, supplied absolutely everything you could need, including gasoline and first-run (well, six-month-old) movies for a fraction of what you would pay in the US.

We even had enough money to travel some, and go off-base once in a while, and my dad was not an officer at the time.

I agree that there must be more to this lady's story than postage expenses. Also, I think people's "standard of living" has gotten out of control lately. We didn't feel compelled to buy a VCR, or microwave, or a 32-inch color TV just to keep up with the neighbors because nobody had that kind of stuff, not even the officer's kids. Time to get real and reel in folks' expectations as to what they are entitled to.

Now that we are a Semi- Quasi busi- ness, I feel that the public can & should pay for the mail sent to our troops in the war zone. They are the only ones who should be given the use of free mail while in the war zone. We, here at home, should not complain on the packages we send to our yroops who are overseas. Only the troops, & I mean the the men & women fighting for the FREEDOM FOR THE IRAQI'S.
