Good for the employees of Royal Oak. Since management won't address the issues (big surprise there), they've gotten the political honchos involved. As usual, the local and district management people give lip service to the media, while actively and deliberately condoning the abberant behavior of their managers. Royal Oak isn't the only place where this is occuring, but as a place where blood was spilled once before, it gets increased scrutiny.
Management just doesn't get it. It has been shown since the dawn of the Industrial Age that whipping and flogging the workforce is NOT the key to greater productivity....and yet they continue.In fact, this kind of behavior on management's part tends to generate the very thing they don't want or need...a sullen, unproductive workforce. It's human nature to react this way. Anybody who spent time in Psych 101 knows this.And yet management continues to treat their people like dirt.
And if Potter doesn't do a thorough housecleaning on his district personnel, he ought to be gone too. He's just as complicit in this as his underlings.
Gee whiz, someone was asked to work, finally, and now the work force is upset! What happened to the "comedy room" set up after the shooting? Poor babies, they learned that rather than working for a living they take their whinning to the media and the local senator and liberals flock to their side patting them on the head telling them that everything will be all right... "You don't have to work if you don't want to and we will attack those you point out as being the boogie man. Now go back to sleep my union brothers." My god no wonder muslims are flocking to the kingdom of Michigan!
I was happy to read that the Postal workers in Royal Oak, Michigan asked for an investigation to show the world how things are going in Royal Oak. Everyone, when reminded of the Infamous situation that took place in 1991, knows what I am talking about. I only hope that Senator Levin can hold off the workers before someone snaps. Royal Oak does not need a repeat of the incident that happened many years ago. The Postal Service has not weeded out the IDIOTIC ASSHOLES who are the trouble makers. All the service does is send them from one place to another. That is being done here in the Central Jersey Clusters, allowing THE NAZI to remain a DUMMY. This is the reason many carriers who want to stay & work, leave when they get the opportunity, and do not want to return to the station that they worked in for so long to visit with their friends, due to the IDIOTIC BOSSES who think they know everything. THE TRUTH IS THAT THEY KNOW NOTHING, AND THATS IT.
"Know nothing" is an understatement. Our station manager is a GED. We have about 75 people here and he is the most uneducated person in the station. He knows one thing - how to alienate people. The customers don't like him. They make fun of his grammar.
Do you folks really know what a congressional is, more paper work that's all, it amounts to, been there done that. Just do you jobs and quit your whinning you slugs.
To 4:49 my money says your a slug and that your a whinner because you have to work, or your supervisors make your work. Most whinners in these columns are slugs, most employees want to do their jobs and go home, but people like you want to cause trouble because your a slug and should not even have made it through your probation period. If your so unhappy why don't you quit, or is the pay to high and your work too little?
To 4:00 I agree with you completely about 1:49 sounds like a carrier who can barely make standard if he can, has a very low IQ and talks tough but I doubt if he can quit because he probably cannot fill out the form and doesn't have the guts to quit because as you say he is a slug.
I agree that most employees just want to do their job and go home. SO WHY DON'T YOU IDIOTIC SUPERVISORS LET US? Micro-management, DOIS fiction, "minor" route additions, are NOT just doing our jobs. Carrying the mail is a physically demanding job and most of us actually take pride in it. It's all the other crap we have to put up with that makes what you call whiners. Whiners to you must mean, when told to jump, instead of responding with "how high?" We say, "what the hell for?"
The one think I think that will be accomplished is that these complaints and statements are coming from "older, veteran employees". I know my congressmen value my opinions or comments based solely on those points! And, oh yes, one more thing....since everyone has chosen to call everyone else a WHINER.....please learn how to spell it...I have NO CLUE what a WHINNER is! Unless it's a drunk trying to say winner!
