Keep in mind that this incident took place in a community that is commonly referred to as "The People's Republic of Cambridge", they are all a little strange in Cambridge.
I read the original article and sat enthralled at the tale of blood dripping all over the place and the horrible bloody mess that the mail was. Then, I looked at the accompanying photo. Where's all the blood? Oh yeah, your attention is directed to a speck on two of the envelopes.

Well said ,Mr Fanning, well said.
As a letter carrier with beat-up hands (and it's only the beginning of February), let me say
Thank you, Mr Fanning.
Great response, maybe the next time she orders a meal out she could ask the cook where his hands were before he prepared her meal!
