USPS releases January Financials
- Year To Date Net Income $1.8 billion
- YTD Revenue 3% over budget, 2.1% over last year
- YTD Expenses 1% below budget, 3.7% over last year
- USPS career workforce dropped by 3,000 in January, and is 14,000 lower than a year ago
- First Class volume in January dropped 3.2% from the prior year
- Standard mail increased 1.7% for the month
- Total mail volume for January was down 1%, total revenue for the month was down 1.7%

NZ posties no longer 'wired' to snoop
'NZ Post created what amounted to a storm by wiring up their posties with wireless microphones to collect details on their customers as they do their rounds.'

Add another postal program to the nixed list
'News zooms through the machinery of the U.S. Postal Service. Thursday, the Virginian-Pilot newspaper carried Debbie Messina's report on a terrific program at the Hampton Roads, Va., post office. For a decade, it has donated undeliverable books to libraries, a veterans hospital, churches and homeless shelters.
